Just when you thought it was safe, Sarah Palin has returned to the seen in a desperate attempt to be relevant again, this time by backing her hero, Donald J. Trump, and his performance in the third and final presidential debate.
Not only do I believe that Donald Trump lost the debate in an epic fashion, I think that some of his statements in the debate make disqualify him to run for the position of President of the United States of America.
I have attached the links to my resources in the headings to each section.
Donald Trump has no idea how difficult it is to change an amendment.
Either Congress or the states can propose an amendment a change to an amendment to the Constitution. In order for Congress to propose an amendment a change to an amendment, they need a two-thirds majority vote. In order for the states to propose an amendment a change to an amendment, a two-thirds majority of all the state legislatures must call on Congress to hold a Constitutional Convention. While a two-thirds majority vote isn’t unprecedented, there have only been 33 out of 11,623 proposals actually make it to the next step, ratifying an amendment.
Regardless of how the amendment is proposed, it must be ratified by the states. Ratification can happen in two ways. The first way is a three-fourths majority vote of all the state legislatures, approving the amendment or change to an amendment. The second way is a three-fourths majority vote of all the state legislatures, approving the amendment or change to an amendment via ratifying conventions. The second method has only been used once to repeal Prohibition with the 21st Amendment. Of the 33 amendments to pass the proposal process, only 27 of those have actually been ratified by the states.
Taking into consideration the above paragraphs, Republican’s rhetoric about all Democrats abolishing the second amendment if they win both branches of Congress and the White House is completely false. What Democrats want to do is regulate who can gain access to firearms, not take firearms away from all Americans.
It took me less than 30 minutes to do the research on what it takes to propose, change or repeal an amendment.
Donald Trump also has no idea how pregnancy works.
There are, on average, 40 weeks in an average pregnancy. At 26 weeks, there is an 80% chance of survival and at 27 weeks there is a 90% chance of survival. Late preterm babies, born at 34 to 36 weeks, are almost as likely to survive as full-term babies. So when Donald Trump talked about abortion in the third presidential debate saying, “in the ninth month you can take baby and rip the baby out of the womb of the mother just prior to the birth of the baby, on the last day,” he is either completely ignorant to the facts or lying to the American people to support his rhetoric. An abortion “on the last day” of a pregnancy is called a C-Section.
Donald Trump is wrong about undocumented immigrants.
When Donald Trump said, “[immigrants] are bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists,” he was implying that all undocumented immigrants are criminals. According to the American Immigration Council, immigrants are less likely to be criminals than native-born Americans. Between 1990 and 2013, the foreign-born population grew from 7.9% to 13.1%, while the unauthorized immigrants grew from 3.5% to 11.2%.
According to data from a 2010 American Community Survey, roughly 1.6% of immigrant males age 18-39 are incarcerated, compared to 3.3% of the native-born.
The three most memorable quotes from the debate were all from Donald Trump.
The first was during the immigration discussion when he was talking about undocumented immigrants bringing in drugs to the country. He said, “we have some bad hombres here and we’re going to get them out.”
The second quote happened after Hillary Clinton took a jab at Donald Trump about making Social Security solvent by increasing the contribution from the rich and how his would increase as long as he can’t figure out how to get out of it. Donald fired back with, “such a nasty woman.”
The final quote happened after Chris Wallace asked Donald Trump if he would accept the result of the election. He replied by saying,” I will tell you at the time.” Chris Wallace explained to him that the peaceful transition of power is a tradition in this country, in fact, one of the prides of this country. No matter how hard fought a campaign is at the end of the campaign, the loser concedes to the winner. Even after this explanation, Donald Trump said, “What I’m saying is that I will tell you at the time. I’ll keep you in suspense, okay?”
Donald Trump has repeatedly said that our allies should be paying us to protect them? Does he know we are not the mafia?
Hillary Clinton, while pushing back and getting in some jabs at Donald Trump, stayed to the issues and policies for the most part. Donald Trump started off fairly timid, but started acting like the Donald Trump we all know after the discussion turned to gun control and abortion.
Donald Trump’s claim that the election is rigged is very detrimental to our Democracy. But, this is how Donald Trump is, he is a sore loser. If he loses, it is rigged. The FBI conducted a yearlong investigation into Hillary Clinton’s e-mails, concluding there was no case, the FBI was rigged. He lost the Iowa caucus and the Wisconsin primary, he said the Republican primary was rigged against him. Trump University gets sued for fraud and racketeering, the court system and the federal judge is rigged against him. There was even a time when he didn’t get an Emmy for his TV program three years in a row and he started tweeting that the Emmy’s were rigged against him.
Donald Trump is a bitter, petty, racist, misogynistic bigot of a man with small hands that isn’t qualified to be the President of the United States of America. It is time for the American people to do the right thing by doing EVERYTHING in our power to keep this national embarrassment away from the Oval Office.
